A few days ago, 1,500 tons of liquid methionine, produced by Bluestar Adisseo’s plant in Nanjing, were delivered on China’s first bulk ship shipping liquid methionine, which set sail from Yangzhou Hengji Daxin Wharf, Jiangsu Province, to Brazil.
Previously, Bluestar Adisseo’s exports were transported in shipping containers. To optimize logistics costs, Bluestar Adisseo (China)’s supply chain and global supply chain teams carried out extensive discussions on the bulk shipping of methionine to effectively avoid risks, bring transportation costs down, and ensure supplies for customers. This bulk shipping operation represents the first attempt, with the oil/chemical tanker Stolt Acer carrying 1,500 tons of liquid methionine, greatly increasing freight efficiency.
The completion of the second phase of the Bluestar Adisseo (Nanjing) project in 2022 will further expand the volume and scope of supply via bulk ships to markets in the U.S. and Brazil, as well as open up markets in South Korea, the Middle East, and the domestic Chinese market.
